Debbie Conrad is the founder and instructor at Naturehood. She began teaching environmental education 25 years ago as an AmeriCorp volunteer at Jackson Bottom Wetlands in Hillsboro, Oregon. From there she continued her education and received a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Education from University of Minnesota Duluth.
After two years in Minnesota, Debbie returned to Oregon to begin her career as an environmental educator. She worked at Tualatin Hills Nature Park in Beaverton and Jackson Bottom Wetlands. There she led field trips, summer camps, community programs, and coordinated volunteers.
She also had the opportunity to work at SOLVE as their Education Coordinator. At SOLVE she worked directly with teachers to assist them in obtaining small grants to fund their science projects. It was there that she realized she wanted to work directly with teachers to provide enriching and meaningful environmental science lessons.
